But what about flash games? There’s a large mob of “hard core programmers” (aka virgins in basements) who’s dunking their fap sock torches in flammable caffeine drinks as I say this; but is there ANY alternative to Flash as a beginner-to-intermediate-level game design platform? That has it’s own highly successful portals, like Kongregate?
Adobe won’t be able to support the Flash platform in the same way if youtube goes for all-HTML5. At the same time, the Flash branch of development tools seems to be geared for multiple screens in a big way. Time will tell, but I can’t imagine this will benefitindie start ups..
Found this at Gizmodo. It’s a project developed by Carnegie Mellon University, using reference cameras and live feeds coupled with location/direction sensitive augmented reality. The result: Invisible walls.
I’m thinking, it wouldn’t have to be a live video feed, it might as well be car-shaped representations of the live GPS-coordinates of other cars. Now, where’s those holo screens we’ve been hearing so much about? And eye/head tracking?
10 GUI and the con10uum system are made by Clayton Miller, and there’s more info on his site. Apple is in the water, Microsoft is getting ready with several ideas, and the future is looking bright. 10GUI has some faults, but you can make up your own mind after watching the video below. Audio is a plus.
There are certain landmarks on my horizon, and the item pictured on the left is one of them. Just like that. I’ve always been a sci-fi nerd, I’ve always dreamt of space travel and teleportation, aliens and monsters. As I’ve grown older, I’ve continued my longing for the next big thing down a slightly more conservative path. Still, the only thing separating Microsofts new booklet/tablet/netbook/giant DS from my childhood fantasies is the fact that it has two screens, not one flexible one. And the fact that it’s more awesome then I could have imagined. Gizmodo has all the latest news on the device, with updates incoming. I was really skidding off the road this time, ready to jump from dull old Bill to slightly uncanny but far more innovative and sleek Steve. Then Ballmer and his minions kicked the door in and unleashed Windows 7 and then this gorgeous new necessity. And it has a PEN, how mature is that? Much more info + video on Gizmodo.
